We view our students as independent and autonomous people with the desire to express their opinions,  desires and  emotions.

 Theirs is the right to achieve quality of life.

Some of our students have the capacity to become integrated into  both regular and protected factories and workshops. 

They will manage an independent lifestyle at suitable hostels.

Those graduates who function at a lower level will achieve as much happiness, health and functionality as possible and thus make it easier for their caretakers to provide them with quality care and to interact with them respectfully with full regard for their well-being.


Our Creed
Every student, even those with the most severe disabilities deserves a suitable and professional milieu to meet both his needs and those of his family.
 
Every student, even those with the most severe disabilities is worthy of a suitable educational environment adapted to his needs and limitations.
 
Those students who are supplied their basic needs will be open to learning.
 
A clean and properly dressed student will receive the respect of those surrounding him.
 
A student who is properly informed as to his or her care and treatment will feel more secure and will be better able to cooperate with his caretakers.
 
In a proper learning environment aimed at literacy, specifically adapted to the student’s capabilities he/she will fulfill his/her capabilities to the maximum.
 
A student who can express him or herself will feel more able to cooperate with regard to his or her care and treatment.

Putting Our Creed it into Practice:

The creed of Shechafim was developed with and by the entire school staff. It is reviewed, 
adapted and renewed every year and applied on a daily basis  during the various activities conducted at the school.


Examples in the Application of Our Creed:

Even those students, who because of the state of their health are unable to participate actively in the various classes, receive all of the physical care that they require and are included in the school's active educational environment.
 
Throughout the daily school and classroom schedule, significant emphasis is placed upon lessons related to personal hygiene and meals in which the students learn to be aware of their appearance and the manner in which they eat.

We strictly maintain a proper and suitable learning environment that allows the student to be familiar with his close surroundings and thereby improve his quality of life. Furthermore, it is important for us to inform every student, even those with the most severe disabilities concerning the treatment and care he is to receive.
 
All of the students are given the possibility throughout the day to express themselves in every way possible,
e.g.communication boards and switches, sign language, flash cards and various communication labels, etc'.
 
All of this within the spirit of the “Approaching Maturity Program” and the Standard Based 
Verbal Education Program of the Israel Ministry of Education.
